With so many different genres and styles available, my philosophy has always been: why pick just one? I believe musical boundaries are meant to be pushed and “rules” are meant to be broken. Even a familiar melody has space for reinvention and reimagination. Music should serve the story -- melody, style, and genre are all fertile ground for growth and experimentation.

“A WONDERFUL WORLD” NEW MUSICAL ABOUT LOUIS ARMSTRONG
A Wonderful World, a new musical about Louis Armstrong, tells the story of his life, music and singular legacy through the voices of his four wives. Teaming up with my husband, Michael O. Mitchell (Apollo Theater; Broadway: Motown), we are commissioned by Miami New Drama to write, arrange and orchestrate the score for this important new piece.
Alongside scriptwriter Aurin Squire (This Is Us, The Good Fight), choreographer Rickey Tripp (The Choir Boy, Jesus Christ Superstar Live), and director Christopher Renshaw (Drama Desk winner and Tony nominee). The brand new musical is scheduled to world premiere at the Colony Theater in Miami in 2021.

LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER WITH CYNTHIA ERIVO ON PBS
Thrilled to be the music director, arranger and orchestrator for Cynthia Erivo’s performance in the 17-time Emmy Award-winning series Live from Lincoln Center Presents Stars in Concert on PBS.

"THE CHRISTMAS ALBUM" COLLAB WITH LESLIE ODOM JR. AND NICOLETTE ROBINSON ODOM
Excited to share my arrangement of “Ma’oz Tzur” ~ a musical collaboration with Leslie Odom Jr and his beautiful wife Nicolette Robinson Odom. This track is really special to my heart as it’s an homage to my Jewish roots. “Stunning jazz piano break that creates a hopeful and optimistic glow” (BroadwayWorld)

AVE MARIA WITH LESLIE ODOM
Arranged and recorded with Tony Award winner Leslie Odom Jr. on “Ave Maria” - a featured track that appeared on both Christmas albums: Simply Christmas and Simply Christmas (Deluxe Edition).
Both albums are #1 on Billboard and iTunes Jazz charts!

"AIN'T NOBODY" BY CHAKA KHAN
This is an original arrangement of “Ain’t Nobody” by Chaka Khan which was filmed and directed by Jordan Battiste in Times Square in New York City.
Being Chaka’s fan, I wanted to show the diversity in blending the familiar, soulful melody with a classical, yet tribal-like piano driven arrangement.

DON’T BOTHER ME I CAN’T COPE AT CITY CENTER
Tony Award-winner Savion Glover directs and choreographs this Encores! Off-Center revival, mixing his own artistic flair with Ms. Grant's score. I’m honored to Music Direct / Arrange “Don’t Bother Me I Can’t Cope” with music and lyrics from Micki Grant, a story of celebration of African-American culture and community. Originally conceived and directed by the first African-American woman to direct on Broadway, Vinnette Carroll, the show brings issues of race politics to the American stage, using a blend of gospel, jazz, soul, calypso, and rock to create voices for change - incredibly poignant for a time when we greatly need to hear these voices.

BEAMS OF HEAVEN: SONGS OF CHARLES ALBERT TINDLEY
I was commissioned as the arranger and pianist for Global Ministries’ publication of hymns paying tribute to legendary gospel hymn writer Charles Albert Tindley. Collaborating with singer Caroline Disnew, we created two of the album’s tracks: “I’ll Overcome Someday” and this one, “Beams of Heaven.” This impromptu arrangement was composed right in the studio!

"REDEMPTION SONG" WITH CONSTANTINE MAROULIS
Working with Broadway star Constantine Maroulis is always a blast! We came up with an on-the-spot arrangement of this classic song and recorded this Playbill promo video for Performers4Peace, a benefit concert put on by Forest Whitaker’s foundation. I had the honor of music directing, conducting, orchestrating, and playing piano for this concert. Performers included multiple Tony and Olivier Award winners, such as James Monroe Iglehart and Lesli Margherita.
